Corporate generosity could feel sting of new minimum tax rules

IRS seeks volunteers for free tax services
The IRS is recruiting volunteers for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs for the upcoming filing season. “No experience is necessary to become a VITA or TCE volunteer,” the IRS said, adding that “free specialized training is provided by the agency.” (From Thomson Reuters)
New Jersey ranks worst in business taxes; Maryland is 45th
New Jersey failed to rise this year from its bottom rank in business taxation as a tangle of levies hobbled its competitiveness with other states, the Tax Foundation said. New York and California were ranked 49th and 48th, respectively. (From CFO Dive)

Most execs do not see A.I. shrinking financial teams
While recent breakthroughs in generative A.I. have sparked renewed workplace worries about jobs being replaced by technology, just over half of senior financial leaders surveyed do not think A.I. will shrink financial reporting teams. However, 39% think A.I.-related efficiencies will cut team size and 21% expect team size will grow because its value will be enhanced, according to a recent survey from the Big Four accounting firm KPMG.
